Campaign Overview

Unplug Musk in Missouri

Missouri allows citizen petitions to place proposed legislation on the ballot. Proponents gather voter signatures across the state on an official petition. If we meet the minimum signature threshold (about 111,000 registered voter signatures) the measure appears on the ballot for an up or down vote.

Using legal language first proposed by GOP Governor Mike Kehoe, supported by GOP US Senator Eric Schmitt, and passed by nearly the entire GOP and Democratic State Senate Caucuses, we have filed the proposed law with the Missouri Secretary of State. We are targeting the midterm election in November 2026 for an up or down vote on Musk.

The language would prohibit Musk from selling cars in Missouri by banning the direct sale of cars by auto manufacturers— a centerpiece of Musk’s business model. It would embrace the traditional model of autos being sold through hometown dealers who support and invest in their local communities. That’s how Governor Kehoe first made his name.

Commenting on the Kehoe/Schmitt plan, Musk’s own lawyers have told the Missouri Courts that it would legally ban Tesla from selling directly in Missouri and would require them to close their locations. This is the Musk approved plan to drive Musk from Missouri!

And this approach embraces great American values— values that are under attack— the Rule of Law, the Right to Petition Your Government, and the Right to Vote!

Let’s Unplug Musk in Missouri!

And while we are doing that, we will be working hard to replicate this approach across the country….
